Frequently Asked Questions

Postage

How long does it take to get to me?

We try our best to get your Dishy Shield to you as soon as you place your order and where we can we use Express post international to save time in transit. Most orders take around 7 to 12 days depending on country. You will receive a tracking number to see the progress.

Why haven’t my Dishy Shield been delivered yet?

Sometimes it is held back by the local Post Office, so try and contact your local Post Office with the tracking number provided (online or phone) and first see if they have it. Most (99%) of the time a card has been left to notify the owner that their Dishy Shield is held by the Post Office for collection. If it is left unclaimed it will be sent back to us and you’ll have to pay for another Postage fee.

What is the difference between Gen 2 and Gen 3 Dishy Shield?

Both Gen 2 & Gen 3 uses the same robust 4.5mm UV coated Polycarbonate. It is only the Dishy Shield Mini that comes with the 3mm UV coated Polycarbonate.

Will I loose signal quality?

Polycarbonate is RF Transparent, meaning you will not notice any difference in speed from using the Dishy Shield.

Will the snow melt function still work?

The Polycarbonate will still emit enough heat to melt snow, but we suggest removing it if you find that it doesn’t melt enough snow.

You can also apply a coating that repel any moisture, including snow build-up. Contact us for the name of products we suggest that would help prevent any snow build-up.

Will there be heat build-up on the terminal and will it affect it?

From our test here using a lazer thermometer on a sunny summers day in Australia, we saw almost no difference between having the Dishy Shield fitted to not haing anything fitted. We have been running a terminal with the Dishy Shield now for more than 6 months with no negative impact.

Is the Dishy Shield easy to fit?

Once out of the box, all you need to do is to remove the protective coating and slide it over your Starlink Terminal. If it feels tight, just hold the bottom of the terminal and push hard from the top down, this way you know it won’t slide off easily.

If, for what ever reason, it slides over too loose you can easily fix this. Lay it face down with the tabs facing up, using your palms and body weight and just push down on the tabs to close it in a little more to get the desired grip needed to fit tightly over your terminal. Don’t worry, you won’t break the Polycarbonate doing this, we have tried….

Is the Dishy Shield UV proof?

Your Dishy Shield is made using double sided UV coating. This means that it will not fade or yellow for 10 years.

What is the difference between Polycarbonate and HDPE?

HDPE or High density Polyethylene is a great product for using it on plastic bottles, cutting boards, etc. It is prone to cracking, flammable and has poor thermal capabilities.

Polycarbonate is used in high impact scenarios like Bullet proof widows, Aircraft windows, etc. Is has exceptional resistance to heat as it has self extinguishing properties (will not burn without the presence of a continuous heat source).
